With the support of the Foundation, the library of Kapan Basic School No. 13 was renovated and furnished
The Syunik region has always been in the focus of attention of the “Nor Nakhijevan” Humanitarian Foundation. During recent observations, it was revealed that Kapan Basic School No. 13, located near the border, has special classes for Russian-speaking students from grades one through nine. These classes are attended mainly by the children of our compatriots repatriated from the Russian Federation, as well as by Russian-speaking children of other nationalities.
Thanks to its rich traditions and high educational standards, the school has over time become a reliable educational institution for Russian-speaking repatriates.
It is a priority for the Foundation to support such institutions. Therefore, a decision was made to assist the school. The study revealed that the school’s library named after A. S. Pushkin, which plays a significant role in the educational process, was in a deplorable condition. The issue of renovating and fully furnishing the library was put into motion.
As a result, the library was completely renovated and furnished with 17 bookcases, 4 tables, 1 table with a side panel, and 19 soft chairs.
On November 19, the closing event of the Foundation’s program “Renovation and Furnishing of the A. S. Pushkin Library at Kapan Basic School No. 13, Syunik Region, Republic of Armenia” took place.
The school’s students had prepared cultural performances. Warm wishes from our beloved students were delivered in both Armenian and Russian. They sang and danced accompanied by the unique sounds of the qanun.
At the end of the event, the director of the Foundation, Mr. Mher Hovhannisyan, delivered a speech. Welcoming the attendees, Mr. Hovhannisyan expressed hope that the newly renovated library and reading room would become a beloved and in-demand space for the students.
Mr. Hovhannisyan also conveyed a congratulatory message from the Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Russian-Armenian public and political figure and philanthropist Mr. Harutyun Surmalyan, and presented an additional gift on his behalf. The library was replenished with over eighty new books on fiction and historical topics.
The school principal, Ms. Zhanna Vardanyan, also addressed the audience. She highly appreciated the Foundation’s work and emphasized the importance of its targeted support. Ms. Vardanyan noted that the Foundation has become a unique bridge connecting the Diaspora and the Homeland. At the heart of this bridge, she highlighted the role of Mr. Harutyun Surmalyan, stressing the national importance of his dedicated efforts.
At the end of the event, guests toured the newly renovated library and reading room. The students eagerly began exploring the donated literature.
